Originally established as the Asia Pacific Institute of Information
Technology (APIIT) in 1993, UCTI's sound approach to nurturing school
leavers into qualified professionals has resulted in our graduates being
highly sought after by employers. With an international student
community from more than 80 countries studying in its Malaysian campus,
UCTI offers a truly cosmopolitan learning environment which prepares
students well for the global challenges which lie ahead.
UCTI now has over 8000 students with over 5000
international students from over 82 countries.
The Dual Degree Programmes are offered through a unique collaborative partnership between UCTI and Staffordshire University, United Kingdom, through which Staffordshire University accredits undergraduate programmes that are designed and delivered by UCTI. On completion of the programme, students will be awarded two undergraduate degree Certificates and Transcripts: one from UCTI and one from Staffordshire University.
The programme provides students with enhanced opportunities for further study and career development, especially since both degrees are earned from reputed and quality Institutions from two different countries. The most obvious benefit of the partnership is the opportunity for students to gain degrees from Malaysian and UK higher education institutions that are recognised locally and internationally.
The UCTI-Staffordshire Dual Degree Programmes are offered under an approved collaboration in accordance with the Code of Practice for the Assurance of Academic Quality and Standards in Higher Education as published by the United Kingdom Quality Assurance Agency's (QAA). UCTI's academic programmes are all approved by the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia and the qualifications are accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
SCHOOL OF COMPUTING & TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMMES (Award Length: 3-Years)
The School of Computing & Technology at UCTI is the oldest and most established school. The school has a strong presence in the industry and is an obvious choice among the school leavers. The school offers a wide variety of specialised programmes. Our programmes are very much industry driven and relevant and our graduates are global citizens and industry ready. Alumni of the School have progressed into a number of significant careers in leading multinational technology based companies.
In line with UCTI's vision, the School aims to be a leading provider of high quality computing and technology education and a contributor to research at the national and international level. This is emphasised by our mission to provide high quality and internationally recognised and benchmarked Technology education and to be recognised for innovative teaching methods and educational activities.
OF BUSINESS & MANAGEMENT PROGRAMMES (Award Length: 3-Years)
In an era of global transformation the demands placed upon business leaders to provide leadership and insights have become imperative. The Business School at the UCTI prepares students for a role that gives them an industry relevant edge.
At the School of Business & Management at the UCTI, we continually demonstrate high quality international curriculum through our portfolio of Business Management, Accounting and Finance Degrees at both undergraduate and post graduate levels. With a mission to develop global ready graduates, our teaching faculty engages in industry relevant research that embodies academic rigour and forward thinking to prepare our graduates towards a rewarding career.
ACCOUTING & FINANCE PROGRAMMES (Award Length: 4-Years)
The BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance is an excellent springboard from which to launch a professional career in accountancy or to pursue further study. It is well established, and is designed to provide a thorough understanding of the principles and practice of accounting and related subjects. Students on the course have the flexibility of developing and building their specialist knowledge within an Accounting and Finance context whether in industry or public service. The award covers an in-depth knowledge of the core areas for those intending to move into the Accounting profession as well as those specialised areas such as tax, forensic and investment. The programme also includes an option for students to undergo an industrial internship programme which will equip them with practical employment skills.
Upon completion, students are eligible for exemptions for a maximum of 9 papers from The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and 6 papers exemptions (All the certificate-level papers and 1 operational-level paper) from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Students who articulate from the UCTI Diploma Programme will be granted exemptions based on the prevalent policy of the relevant professional bodies.
OF ENGINEERING PROGRAMMES (Award Length: 4-Years)
The School of Engineering at UCTI is one of our fastest growing schools and is gaining popularity among school leavers. This is because all the four engineering programmes offered by the School are current in terms of technology and are market driven, and thus have great employment opportunities.
The vision of the School is to be a leading provider of Engineering and Technology based education with innovative approaches to enhancing lifelong career opportunities. This is emphasised by our mission to provide engineering education based on a theoretical, experimental, and ethical foundation and enhanced by opportunities for participation in research, internships and interdisciplinary study.
For all degrees within the School, UCTI links with industry help to provide internship training placements for students. Internships are compulsory for all students as per the requirement of the Board of Engineers Malaysia.

Living cost in Malaysia as an international student is estimated at about USD 400-450 per month which should include accommodation, food, transport, entertainment etc.
APIIT & UCTI has a fine reputation as an institute that treats its students in a professional manner. In keeping with professional standards, APIIT adheres to a dress code policy that prohibit the wearing of jeans, t-shirts, sports sneakers, sandals, slippers, as well as provocative or immodest attire. Also, only English is spoken in and around the institute. Smoking in the institute is strictly prohibited. These guidelines are implemented to prepare yourself well for your future role as a professional in the workplace.
